Meet Your Teacher
Sarah Martin is originally from Southeastern Connecticut and moved to Westchester in 2008. Sarah started becoming more active with running and weight training, but something else was needed to balance out her workouts. She found Pilates when her gym was offering a free private session. She has been doing Pilates ever since and throughout all 3 of her pregnancies. She completed her full training certificate through Art of Control and since then has opened up Pilates Glow in Harrison, NY. Sarah has a passion for Pilates and helping others find their own Pilates journey.
Enticed by the graceful, physical demands of Pilates, Lisa Frey initially pursued the method to cross-train and gain core strength. A former dance student and avid fitness buff, she trained with Simona Cipriani at the Art of Control® to further her understanding of the Classical Pilates system. Fully certified in 2015, Lisa teaches both private clients and group mat classes. To her, helping clients discover improved body mechanics and a greater sense of well-being is immensely gratifying.
Joanne has been living in Westchester for 26 years. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she worked as a graphic designer in Manhattan after graduating from college with a BA in Art and Education. Putting her career on hold to raise her three children, she discovered the world of Pilates existed right in her backyard at The Art of Control on the campus of SUNY Purchase. Joanne became a student at the studio and loved the changes she saw in her body. With the prospect of an “empty nest” approaching, she decided to study and become a certified instructor. With her certification and many continuing education workshops she is a devoted teacher of the original method, but continues to be a dedicated student because there is always more to learn.
Heather received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2005 from Stony Brook University and has been a Physical Therapist at the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, NY for about 15 years. She loves running and has ran several Marathons, as well as completed several Ultra-Marathons. Heather practiced Pilates on and off for a couple of years, but last year she dedicated herself to further her own practice and it has now become a part of her life. Still an avid runner, Heather incorporates Pilates into her own personal training to stay strong and help prevent injuries. Heather is a certified Pilates Instructor, but she wanted more, and is now currently enrolled in a 600 hour Classical Pilates program to further her own knowledge and help her clients achieve their goals.
