It's an overall good lesson in life to understand your weaknesses. Everyone has them. No one is immune to having a weak part of their body or something that needs strengthening. Many workouts try to strengthen weak parts of the body by isolating them. But that's not how people live their everyday lives. The entire body is working all the time when you go about your day. If an area of the body is weaker than others, it forces the stronger areas to compensate for it. This means it's best to strengthen an area not by isolating it but by working out the entire body at the same time, which is exactly what Pilates offers.
Because Pilates is a complete body workout, people don't have the chance to isolate weaker muscles and work them out individually. As you're performing an exercise, you need to consciously focus on what needs to work the hardest to prevent other areas from compensating too much. If your hips are starting to tire, it means there are other areas of the body not working as hard as they should. Pilates forces you to really think about your weaknesses at all times. Otherwise, the exercises will be much harder to get through and possibly even painful.
A good Pilates teacher understands how the body operates. If a part of the body is straining too much, it's because something else isn't working as hard as it should. Your teacher should know how to correct that exercise by adjusting your form or even giving you a modification to help alleviate the strain. It's also important to build strength so that modification won't be necessary in the future. Pilates a mental workout as much as it is a physical because it demands you be conscious of those weaknesses at all times.
